# Digital Experience Score Management

Nexthink strives to provide the most meaningful data and reporting capabilities by allowing you to configure the DEX score and tailor it to your environment. The DEX score is directly connected with the [Digital Experience](https://docs.nexthink.com/platform/user-guide/digital-experience) module.

## Accessing the Digital Experience Score configuration page <a href="#digitalexperiencescoremanagement-accessingthedigitalexperiencescoreconfigurationpage" id="digitalexperiencescoremanagement-accessingthedigitalexperiencescoreconfigurationpage"></a>

To access the Digital Experience Score configuration page:

* Select **Administration** from the main menu.
* Click on **Digital Experience Score** in the Content Management section of the navigation panel.

Only users with the proper role can access the configuration page. Refer to [Getting started with Digital Experience](https://docs.nexthink.com/platform/user-guide/digital-experience/getting-started-with-digital-experience) for more information about assigning the right permissions to users.

#### Windows memory metrics

* **Default configuration**:\
  Nexthink recommends using **Memory Swap Rate** as a key indicator of memory-related experience issues. Research shows a strong correlation between elevated swap activity and user impact.
* **Alternative configuration (Microsoft-aligned)**:\
  If you prefer strict alignment with Microsoft guidance, you can manually enable the following Windows memory counters instead:
  * **Memory Usage**
  * **Pool Paged Usage**
  * **Pool Non-Paged Usage**
  * **Committed Bytes**

Refer to the [Memory metrics as indicators of Digital Experience](https://edocs.nexthink.com/nexthink-infinity/infinity-specifications/digital-employee-experience-dex-specifications/memory-metrics-as-indicators-of-digital-experience) documentation for more information, backed with research data from Nexthink.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Starting February 23, 2026, metric split by operating system is enabled by default for all new Nexthink tenants.

Existing tenant administrators must manually enable the feature in the **Endpoint** tab under **Score metrics**. Once enabled, the change is irreversible.
{% endhint %}

#### VDI <a href="#digitalexperiencescoremanagement-enablingdatalocationforbenchmarking" id="digitalexperiencescoremanagement-enablingdatalocationforbenchmarking"></a>

{% hint style="info" %}
Digital Experience Score metrics specific to VDI require a [VDI Experience](https://docs.nexthink.com/platform/user-guide/vdi-experience) license. Contact your Nexthink representative for more information.

For a full list of metrics, refer to the [relevant FAQ](https://docs.nexthink.com/platform/user-guide/vdi-experience/vdi-experience-faq#what-new-nql-data-model-fields-does-vdi-experience-provide-compared-to-the-combined-metrics-from-ses).
{% endhint %}

To ensure accuracy across your virtual desktop environment, Nexthink separates metrics into 3 categories: physical devices, virtual devices, and all devices. This delivers precise experience measurements tailored to each device type.

<figure><img src="https://268444917-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxJSUDk9NTtCHYPG5EWs3%2Fuploads%2F3fmRZddruHSvf53V4PwJ%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=fefeba64-174c-4813-b1e6-c6d6b59cdcbc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Enabling this split of metrics increases the granularity and relevance of experience insights, particularly in mixed environments that include both physical and virtual endpoints.

Refer to the [Hard metrics and thresholds](https://edocs.nexthink.com/nexthink-infinity/infinity-specifications/digital-employee-experience-dex-specifications/list-of-hard-metrics-and-thresholds#endpoint-score) documentation for more information about the split of metrics per device category.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Starting January 19, 2026, metric split by device type is enabled by default for all new Nexthink tenants.

Existing tenant administrators must manually enable the feature in the **Endpoint** tab under **Score metrics**. Once enabled, the change is irreversible.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://268444917-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxJSUDk9NTtCHYPG5EWs3%2Fuploads%2FWyFIdS49CZLnNDVqtFAD%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=05b99a69-2d81-45e4-a0a4-e104b3b3a551" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
