# Engine (classic)

Nexthink Engine is a server-side application developed for the Nexthink V6 platform, the on-premises Nexthink solution. This high-performance analytics software is capable of processing millions of endpoint activities in seconds. Events sent in real-time by the Collector agents populate the database with activity data, populating a rich repository of historical and live IT infrastructure usage data from the employees' perspective. Nexthink cloud instances are still using it to power some aspects of its data storage layer.
