Nexthink Assist

Nexthink Assist is a feature that makes the use of our Infinity platform more conversational and presents a more “natural” experience for our customers in dealing with their queries.

Assist interprets user chat commands in natural language to enable seamless execution. These queries may involve investigations, content retrieval (such as live dashboards and library packs), campaign creation, or questions about Nexthink Infinity. Nexthink Assist is a mere convenience feature, and its use is optional.

Refer to the Using Nexthink Assist documentation for more information.

How does Nexthink Assist leverage Artificial Intelligence, particularly OpenAI?

Before the introduction of Nexthink Assist, Nexthink users conducted investigations executing the same commands but with a Visual or NQL editor, not natural language. They also had to leave the Nexthink web interface to find answers to their questions and design custom campaigns from scratch.

Nexthink Assist provides users with more convenience and a better experience. For example, if they want to query data, they can enter their query using natural language in a chat box.

If the user wants to create a Nexthink campaign or retrieve information from Nexthink documentation, the user question is sent to OpenAI via APIs. OpenAI proposes the campaign content or browses the documentation to return content.

Refer to the FAQ in the Using Nexthink Assist documentation to learn more about how Assist executes the natural language commands.

Does Assist make any automated decisions?

While Nexthink Assist generates suggestions based on user input, users retain the power to make final decisions, enabling oversight and preventing unintended automated actions.

How can I identify when content within Nexthink is generated by AI?

When using Assist, any AI-generated content will be indicated with an AI watermark. This watermark appears as a small, four-sided star-shaped icon placed near the generated content, ensuring transparency when you're interacting with AI-driven material. Whenever you see this watermark, it shows that the related content was created using AI within the Nexthink solution.

Does OpenAI process Personal Data and Personal Identifying Information (PII)?

OpenAI does not need to identify the end-user giving a specific command in natural language. Therefore, Nexthink does not share IP addresses or any other identifiers with OpenAI. The only circumstances where personal data/PII may be shared with OpenAI is where end-users include personal data in the text they draft for the query.

OpenAI does not receive or have access to the query results displayed in the Nexthink web interface; it only gets the query text.

Can OpenAI see the responses to user queries?

OpenAI has no access to or any visibility into the responses returned to a user.

Can OpenAI leverage user data to train its models?

No, OpenAI cannot and does not use data submitted by customers via its APIs to train or improve its models.

How long will OpenAI keep any submitted data?

Per the agreement with Nexthink, OpenAI immediately deletes data after use, ensuring the data retention policy specifies retention for 0 days.

Where does OpenAI process its data?

Currently, OpenAI processes data in the USA. OpenAI is assessing localized data residency, and should EU data residency become an option in the future, Nexthink will take appropriate steps.

Even though OpenAI does not necessarily process personal data/PII, Nexthink has executed a data processing agreement with OpenAI just in case Nexthink user includes such data type in the text of the query. This data processing agreement incorporates the EU-approved SCC’s and UK Addendum for transferring any data as per the chart below.
