Spark actions

Actions enable seamless automation for diagnosing issues and performing remediations directly from Spark. These actions enhance the employee experience while reducing manual IT effort by providing both ready-to-use and customizable solutions.

There are two types of actions available in Spark:

  • Agent actions: Activate ready-to-use actions directly from the Spark Cockpit. These actions come preconfigured, letting you quickly start monitoring and remediating common issues without any setup.

  • Remote actions: Existing Nexthink remote actions that you can enable for Spark. Refer to Custom remote actions for Spark for more information.

Install custom actions from the Nexthink Library to extend the functionality of Spark.

Custom remote actions for Spark

Enable and configure custom or Nexthink Library remote actions in Spark to extend its capabilities. Adapt remote actions to your organization's specific needs.

From Remote Actions > Manage remote actions in the main menu:

  1. Select the remote action that you want to enable for Spark or create a new remote action.

  2. Select the Spark triggering mechanism for the remote action.

    • When you enable the Spark trigger, additional configuration fields become available.

  3. In the General tab, review the remote action description—Spark uses the description as part of its search. Nexthink recommends adding an employee-friendly description detailing the symptoms and changes that the remote action addresses.

  4. Select the Trigger with user’s consent checkbox if you want Spark to ask the employee for approval before running the action.

  5. Configure the messages Spark displays at each stage of the action—recommended if you require user consent:

    • Before the action: Describe what the action will do.

    • In progress: Explain that Spark is processing (optional).

    • After the action: Confirm completion or share the outcome (optional).

Nexthink does not recommend activating remote actions that use campaigns to communicate with employees in Spark. Employee consent and communication can be managed by Spark on the basis of your configured messages.

Nexthink recommends activating the following Nexthink Library remote actions.

Install and configure the following remote actions for Spark. For Diagnostic actions, Nexthink recommends enabling them without user consent and without messages
