## Background

Enterprise IT environments are complex and require domain-specific expertise. Generic AI assistance cannot adapt to every role, workflow, or context. A VDI engineer, EUC lead, and DEX champion need different guidance and formats. As a result, **Workspace** responses may be less tailored to specific domains, and its expertise is not always easy to package or reuse across teams.

**IT Experts** extend Workspace with specialized conversational agents you design. Rather than starting every conversation from scratch, you can create **IT Experts** that already know their purpose, tone, and relevant procedures. This enables more relevant, context-aware responses for specific use cases, while keeping the setup simple.

#### Typical use cases include:

* Guided troubleshooting for device or application issues
* Patch compliance verification and remediation guidance
* Alert triage with step-by-step investigation workflows
* Onboarding assistants for new Nexthink Infinity users

## Customer benefits

* Create purpose-built **IT Experts** tailored to specific IT use cases
* Adapt **Assist** behavior to different roles, workflows, and expectations
* Improve answer relevance using domain-specific context provided as on-demand resources
* Increase confidence in responses with defined roles and behavior instructions
* Align with industry standards through agent-based AI concepts

2. The **IT expert's** name appears in the conversation area.
3. Type your message in the input field and press Send.

Recent conversations with each **IT Expert** appear under the Recents section in the left panel.

#### Considerations

* **IT Experts** do not retain memory across separate conversations: each new conversation starts fresh with the role definition and available resources.
* The quality of expert responses depends directly on the clarity of the Role & Behaviour instructions and the relevance of uploaded resources. Refer to [Creating and configuring IT Experts](/technical-previews/workspace-it-experts/creating-and-configuring-it-experts.md) for more information.

# Agent Instructions
This documentation is published with GitBook. GitBook is the documentation platform designed so that both humans and AI agents can read, navigate, and reason over technical content effectively. Learn more at gitbook.com.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.nexthink.com/technical-previews/workspace-it-experts.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
