# Deploying Nexthink Mobile in Omnissa Workspace ONE

This guide explains how to deploy the Nexthink Mobile app for Android, iOS, and iPadOS devices in Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM. It is intended for IT administrators responsible for device management and Nexthink onboarding, and it assumes familiarity with mobile device management concepts and with administering Workspace ONE UEM.

Both platforms use the same Workspace ONE UEM console and share most of the procedure. The steps that differ by platform are shown in the **Android** and **iOS and iPadOS** tabs.

***

## Before you begin

Before starting the deployment, ensure you meet the following requirements:

* Target devices are enrolled in Workspace ONE UEM.
* Target Android devices have access to Google Play, and target iOS and iPadOS devices have access to Apple App Store.
* For iOS and iPadOS devices, download and configure the `Nexthink Mobile Device Configuration Profile.xml` file as described in the [Nexthink Mobile device configuration profile for iOS and iPadOS](https://edocs.nexthink.com/nexthink-infinity/infinity-specifications/nexthink-mobile-app-configuration-profile-ios) documentation.
* Create an installation token as described in the [creating-an-installation-token](/platform/configuring_nexthink/bringing-data-into-your-nexthink-instance/connecting-mobile-devices-to-nexthink/creating-an-installation-token.md) documentation.

{% hint style="info" %}
Nexthink Mobile supports Android 13 or later and Apple iOS 17.3 or later.
{% endhint %}

## Configuring the content filter for iOS and iPadOS

For iOS and iPadOS devices, deploy the Nexthink Mobile device configuration profile as a **Custom Settings** profile with custom value lookup enabled, so that Workspace ONE UEM substitutes per-device values, such as the device identifier and user principal name (UPN). Android devices do not require this profile; you configure Android through the app assignment, as described in [Assigning the app and sending its configuration](#assigning-the-app-and-sending-its-configuration).

Refer to the [Nexthink Mobile device configuration profile for iOS and iPadOS](https://edocs.nexthink.com/nexthink-infinity/infinity-specifications/nexthink-mobile-app-configuration-profile-ios) documentation for the full configuration steps in Workspace ONE UEM.

***

## Assigning the app and sending its configuration

Assign Nexthink Mobile to the target device groups. For Android devices, you also send the app configuration in the same step.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Open the Nexthink Mobile app from the app list, select the **Assignments** tab, then select **Assign**.

<figure><img src="https://268444917-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxJSUDk9NTtCHYPG5EWs3%2Fuploads%2FsfX8PkSF3rUli6OzmanU%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=7994fcef-126e-48f7-b6c6-82a6d00f168d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
On the **Distribution** page, set the following values:

* **Name**: Add a meaningful name for the assignment.
* **Assignment Groups**: Add the device groups to which you want to assign the app.

## Setting silent installation for Android

For Android devices, set Nexthink Mobile to install silently so that it deploys automatically without employee interaction.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Open the Nexthink Mobile Android app and select **Edit**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
On the **Details** tab, set **Is App Restricted to Silent Install** to **Yes**.

<figure><img src="https://268444917-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxJSUDk9NTtCHYPG5EWs3%2Fuploads%2FiSQL9iWtvb0RkJlZTsE8%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=5d80b01c-0b79-4e90-af36-93b678c8f59e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select **Save & Assign**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Verifying onboarding and data collection

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Verify configuration on the device

Confirm the configuration file is running correctly as described in the [Nexthink Mobile device configuration profile for iOS and iPadOS](https://edocs.nexthink.com/nexthink-infinity/infinity-specifications/nexthink-mobile-app-configuration-profile-ios) documentation.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Verify device visibility in Nexthink

In Nexthink, confirm that the device is reporting data by running the following investigation; change the `<app-uid>` to the actual app ID:

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```sql
mobile_devices during past 1h
| where mobile_device.uid in ["<app-uid>"]
| list mobile_device.name, mobile_device.hardware.model, mobile_device.operating_system.name, mobile_device.uid, mobile_device.primary_user_upn
```

{% endcode %}

If the device appears in the query results, onboarding is successful.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.nexthink.com/platform/configuring_nexthink/bringing-data-into-your-nexthink-instance/connecting-mobile-devices-to-nexthink/deploying-nexthink-mobile-in-workspace-one.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
